DC315 ran third party testing to validate the use of DC315 and Sherwin Williams ProMar 200 ZERO VOC, Interior latex EG-shell B20WO2651 coating as a solution for the requirement of a vapor retarder over open-cell spray polyurethane foam in certain applications.
The testing is being driven by a new code requirement. (See 2012 IRC, Section R806.5 Item 4.) This requires a Class III vapor retarder coating over the open-cell spray foam. The code states that a topcoat of latex or enamel paint can be used (See Section R702.7.2). In many of the assemblies, there is a requirement to meet AC377 Appendix X for an Ignition Barrier.
